Did you know that nutrition affects school performance?
Having a correct and balanced diet while in school is
extremely important for the physical and intellectual development of children.
The relationship between nutrition and learning is fundamental.
During the school years the brain requires 20% more
energy, which must be provided by the daily diet. Presently, teenagers have a
normal growth, with plenty of calories but with a worrying low amount of
essential nutrients through poor nutrition, malnutrition or obesity (junk
food). This has a direct impact on school performance. A child that doesn´t eat
appropriately is more susceptible to attention disorders, fatigue, irritability
and poor concentration. For this reason the food quality at this stage is
essential.

The four meals are necessary, but breakfast is essential because it is
responsible for repairing the lower glucose levels that occur during sleep.
Food should be able to cover all the requirements during this stage.
